There are over 47,000 acres of awesome mountains, dense forest and crystal lakes along the rugged coastline of Maine. These things make up Acadia National Park, one of the best hiking areas in Maine. People visit there from all over the world to take their vacations in the Acadia campgrounds. It can get a little crowded during the summer, but the beautiful autumn is the perfect time of year for anyone who wishes for serenity and quiet. Albeit, the evenings can get chilly, but with the right down sleeping bag, the cold is quickly forgotten.
Acadia National Park is a great place to bike or hike. The water in the area is perfect for kayaking or boating and in the early evenings, there is usually something good going on in the park’s amphitheatre, such as a concert or lecture.
There is a small mountain path that is an easy walk to the top, so easy, in fact, that children over the age of five have no problem making the climb, so long as an adult is along to help. Once at the top, the views are not to be believed! Many hikers like to take a light picnic lunch and sit on the rocks and gaze out over the Atlantic as they enjoy their food in peace.
